Excess baggage charges are levied based on Zonal pricing:

Weight Concept

• For all itineraries not including the United States / Brazil.

Band 1

Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam

Band 2

China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Mongolia, South Asia Subcontinent (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan,
Sri Lanka), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia (in Asia)

Band 3

Japan, Korea, South West Pacific, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Timor Leste, Middle East

Band 4

Africa, Europe, Russia (in Europe)

• Passengers travelling on the Manchester-Munich route or vice versa will be charged USD 20/kg for excess baggage.
• The above system applies to all travel itineraries (except for flights to/from United States / Brazil), including interline travel, with SilkAir as the first flight.

• Any bag that weighs above 32kg requires advance arrangement. It may not be accepted as checked baggage and may have to be sent as cargo. Please contact your local SilkAir office prior to your travel.

Pre-Purchase Excess Baggage

Excess baggage allowance can now be pre-purchased online at up to 20% discounted rates. This saves you money and time, giving you a faster and smoother check-in at the airport.

If you are holding a ticket issued by us, you can pre-purchase excess baggage on all flights operated by SilkAir at no less than 48 hours before flight departures. Customers can purchase excess baggage allowance in blocks of 5kg (e.g. 5kg, 10kg, 15kg and etc) up to a maximum of 100kg of excess baggage per passenger per flight.
